Review: 6DollarShirts.com

6dollarshirts review.

I decided to make an order from 6dollarshirts.com and review my complete experience here.

First off, Their site is decent and you can browse their collection of shirts rather easily. They have a decent amount of designs and each design has a good selection of nice colors to choose from.

At the time of my order (Late April 2010) they had a '10 shirts for $50 usd' deal. I decided to order 20 shirts. ten for me, and ten for a friend.

After selecting our shirts, colors, and sizes we added them all to the cart.

Apparently the deal only works once as the total was $110 not $100. Odd. I e-mail them asking if that deal is "once per order" and that due to high shipping and brokerage costs to Canada, I could only make one order. They replied and offered to refund the ten dollar difference after my order is processed.

Sort of an odd way to run such an offer. They should state that it's only once per order on their site. I doubt many people take the time to send them an e-mail about it.

I then make my order and wait for my shirts to arrive.

They did refund that ten dollars. So i did get the ten shirts for $50 deal twice in one order.

I selected USPS in the shipping selection, however they shipped with UPS instead.

The total cost was $170.80 paid. That's $110 for the shirts, and $60 shipping. They refunded $10 of that once my order shipped. Total was $8.99 per shirt from my calculations. including another $14 brokerage when my box arrived.

The shirts arrived in a single box, they were folded in half and stacked. The order was correct.

The shirts seemed of good quality. They didn't seem cheap at all. They were three different companies however. Delta Pro-Weight, Hanes Heavyweight, and QualiHollow.

I'm not sure why the variety, but they all seem to have a similar build quality.

The screen printing looked good on first examination.
Here is a few examples of the un-worn shirts. These two have NOT been worn or washed.

Here is the design "United Nations" Before ever being washed.
Here is the design "The White Serpent" Before ever being washed. This is a macro shot of the Screen Printing. Even before a wash it has a little wear.

After wearing a few of the shirts I threw them in the wash. What happened next was highly disappointing.

The screen printing does not hold up in the wash at all. I used cold water wash, gentle cycle, and gentle tumble dry.

The printing was wrinkled after the first wash and had cracks, it was also peeling from its edges. A lot of the small detail printing is only hanging on by fibres. I don't know how long these shirts will last before they're simply blank again.

Here is just a small example of the screen printing after a single wash.
You can clearly see cracking, wrinkling, and peeling of the screen printing.

After the first wash of one of the shirts the screen printing was peeling so bad it felt like peeling two wet pieces of paper apart. No resistance at all.

The United Nations design has lots of sharp edges in it's design as do a few other designs and i'm afraid of how they're going to look after the first wash.

I have a screen printed shirt from high school in better condition.

I can't say i'm shocked, but i really was expecting a highly quality screen printing. It disappoints me mostly because i really liked these shirts and was hoping they would be good quality and last a long time.

With that being said. Here is my over-all for my experience with 6dollarshirts.com

PRO's
Cheap $6 shirts (Came to $8.99 after shipping, tax, brokerage into canada. Still a good price for shirts)

Good quality shirts

Good designs

CON's

Terrible screen printing. I don't know if i got a bad batch. maybe they had a new guy working the printing press. i don't know.

The ten shirts for fifty bucks deal only works once per order unless you ask nicely.

Over all i was expecting more from my experience with 6dollarshirts.com. I can't say i'm surprised however, judging by the price they manage to sell their products at.

Would i suggest them? Probably not. Granted that's just based on my single experience. I may have just gotten a bad batch.
